Wise Owl Childcare Centre

Wise Owl Private Kindergarten is a small family orientated centre that provides a family atmosphere to a mixed range of ages and cultures in the one centre.

The teaching team at Wise Owl is a mixture of qualified and registered teachers that provide quality education and care.

Wise Owl also has a Japanese teacher that speaks Japanese  to the children as well as teaches a weekly mat time session with children from the age of 3.

Through cultural experience we help the children to develop an interest in the outside world and understand New Zealand's place in it.

Hi my name is Sonya, I have lived on the Kapiti coast with my family for six years. I have a Diploma in E.C.E and am fully registered. I enjoy working alongside children allowing them to explore and find their learning abilities, making links to their wider world.

Hi, my name is Michelle Stratford. I am a fully Registered teacher with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I am Married with two school aged children, and have been living back on the Kapiti Coast for twelve years now. I returned back to teaching once my children started school, and I am really enjoying working again. After having a family, I realise even more how each child is unique and special.

Hi, My name is Stephanie. I have lived on the Kapiti Coast all my life. I am currently in my last year of training with Te Tari puna ora O Aotearoa for the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood. I have 3 children of my own who are all at school. I spend my free time with my family involving myself in the children’s activities and their interests. I love working along side children and devoting my time to extend on their interests while learning from their knowledge.

Kia ora, my name is Jo. I have recently finished my Bachelor of Education (ECE). I love working with young children and firmly believe that all children are entitled to receive a quality education. I enjoy building relationships with whanau and welcome the opportunity to share in children’s different cultures. I live on the Kapiti Coast with my husband and three children and outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and being involved in many sporting activities.

Kia ora, ko Mana toku ingoa. My name is Mana.

I am originally from Japan but have lived in New Zealand over the past six years. I live in Paraparaumu Beach with my teenage daughter. I hold a Bachelor of Education (ECE) and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

Early childhood education is something that I am deeply passionate about. I love children. Over the past four years I have worked as a student teacher at two Child Care Centres and have also had on the job training at three different kindergartens in New Zealand. My time spent at these places has been very rewarding. In particular, I have gained valuable insights into the philosophy and practice of education in New Zealand which in many aspects, is different from that of my home country Japan.

My teaching strategies focus on creating a safe, enjoyable and happy learning environment for the children. I am very pleased I can work with children who are at such a formative stage of their growing up, as we all know the very early environment will have a large influence on their future learning and development. I believe the early childhood environment should be constructed so children can develop and satisfy their sense of curiosity and exploration through a variety of experiences.

Music is one of my favourite subjects since I was a child. I play recorder, piano and violin. I was also a member of the choir in both primary school and college. Currently, I am really enjoying sharing my knowledge and Japanese culture with all the children and family/whānau at Wise Owl Childhood Centre. I hope I can continue to provide a variety of activities which will allow all the children in my care to discover their talents and strengths.
